Route 32 Road Project in Royalston Moves Forward
Boston – Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre) today announced that the Massachusetts Highway Department will solicit bids beginning tomorrow for the project to resurface Route 32 in Roylaston. The estimated cost of the project if $4.9 million. MassHighway plans for major construction to begin in the Spring of 2010.
“I receive phone calls and emails from my constituents regularly about the deplorable conditions of this road and I understand their concerns. I have traveled along this stretch of road numerous times and can attest that this is the worst road in my 29 town district,” said Senator Brewer. “I applaud MassHighway for moving this project forward to ensure that this road is safe for motorists and I look forward to the completion of this project.”
Ultimately, the project consists of roadway reconstruction and related work from the Athol town line to the New Hampshire state line. Funding for this project will come from the 2009 Transportation Improvement Program for the Montachusett Metropolitan Planning Organization and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
