Brewer Presents $2,000 to Hearts for Heat
Aids in providing heat to residents in need

(Boston) – Senator Stephen M. Brewer today presented a $2,000 check from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Hearts for Heat. The donation came at the recommendation of Brewer. Hearts for Heat is a community-based and driven non-profit organization dedicated to providing heat to residents in need.
“Today, the first day of spring, we are lucky to be enjoying some warm weather,” said Brewer. “However, we are not out of the woods yet; this year we have seen fuel prices rise and temperatures drop as early as October, during an early Nor’easter. The challenges of budgeting during an economic recession continue to put a strain on many programs, including the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Hearts for Heat is a lifeline for many area residents looking to keep themselves and their families warm. I am grateful to Blue Cross Blue Shield for making this generous donation.”
The donation will be split between the North Brookfield and Spencer Chapters of Hearts for Heat.
“This generous donation, yet again, demonstrates Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s commitment and concern for the health and well being of the neediest members of our society,” Cindy Shea, President of Hearts for Heat.
Hearts for Heat was founded by Cindy Shea, of Princeton, and is recognized by the federal government as a 501 (c)(3) public charity. Chapters of the organization are currently helping residents in Leicester, North Brookfield, Spencer and Princeton.
