Brewer and Welch to Host Fiscal Year 2011 Budget Hearing of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means

Boston - Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre)and Representative James T. Welch (D-West Springfield) announced today that the House and Senate Committees on Ways and Means will be holding a joint budget hearing on Fiscal Year 2011, on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Tantasqua Regional High School (319 Brookfield Road, Sturbridge, MA 01518)in the schools auditorium. 

Senator Brewer, Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, and Representative Welch, member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, will chair the hearing which will be open to the public.  Testimonies will be heard from the Executive Office of Public Safety, District Attorneys, Sheriffs and the Judiciary relative to their budget priorities.

This is the second time I will have the opportunity to host a budget hearing at Tantasqua Regional High School and they are always a wonderful host.  I am lucky to be able to provide residents of central and western Massachusetts the opportunity to view the budget process here in my district, said Brewer.

This is a great opportunity for citizens of the commonwealth to participate in the budget process; I'm pleased to be able to play a role in facilitating that participation," said Welch.
