Legislature to Hold Budget Hearing at UMass Amherst
The Legislature’s Joint Committee on Ways and Means will hold a hearing on the proposed FY11 state budget on Monday, February 22, 2010 beginning at 10:00 AM in the Campus Center Auditorium at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
The hearing will be co-chaired by Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre), Vice Chair of Senate Ways and Means, and Representative Stephen Kulik (D-Worthington), Assistant Vice Chair of House Ways and Means.
The budget topics to be addressed at this hearing (and approximate times) are:
10:00 am to 11:30 am: Local Aid
11:30 am to 1:00 pm: Education (Pre-K through 12)
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm: Higher Education
2:30 pm to 4:00 pm: Public testimony on any of the subjects above
Among those scheduled to testify at the hearing will be Education Secretary Paul Reville; UMass President Jack Wilson; the commissioners of Early Education, Education, and Higher Education; the Director of the State Lottery; the Massachusetts Municipal Association; and organizations and individuals representing education and municipal governments. The hearing is open to the public.
The hearing is one of eight being held across the state by the Joint Committee on Ways and Means on the FY11 budget.
