Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation Technical Assistance Grant Announced
Boston, MA – Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre),Representative Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) and Representative Todd M. Smola (R-Palmer) announced today that the Massachusetts Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (OSBE) awarded a technical assistance grant to stimulate and support entrepreneurial business growth to the Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation (QVCDC) totaling $25,000 for the project.
The Small Business Technical Assistance Grant Program was established in 2005 as part of a statewide effort to stimulate and support entrepreneurial business growth in the state. These programs typically assist businesses with 20 or fewer employees. Through the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development’s partnership with MassDevelopment, a quasi-public lending institution, the Technical Assistance program was able to secure funds for fiscal year 2010, enabling non-profit organizations to preserve and strengthen their technical assistance programs.
“I am delighted the Massachusetts Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship is working with the Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation to support small business development and economic growth,” Senator Brewer remarked. “These funds will assist Quaboag Valley CDC in its efforts to promote small businesses and to encourage economic development for the region.”
“The Quaboag Valley CDC is instrumental in providing financial and technical support for start-up and existing businesses,” stated Representative Gobi. “These funds will assist them in meeting their goals to help the economy of the area.”
“This is great news,” said Smola.“The QVCDC is a tremendous asset to businesses in the region and this funding will help them continue the outstanding work that they do.”
The OSBE is the state agency responsible for working with the many private and publicly funded technical assistance and financing providers that meet the needs of small business in Massachusetts. The agency focuses on the needs of small businesses by identifying and, when necessary, identifying funding for appropriate resources and policy advocacy to enable business growth and job creation.
